World Meteorological Organization (WMO) with the cooperation of United Nations partners and other UN member states, has enhanced climate services in Africa in the Global Framework for Climate Services to narrow the gap between the demand for climate services and the ability to meet current, especially in developing countries vulnerable to the impact of climate change.
Africa Programme of the WMO will strengthen the meteorological and hydrology services in the African countries to reduce the risk of drought, floods and other extreme weather events other.

The program also transfer the technological progress, improve the capacity of these countries on the climate and weather services.
United Nations Conference on Climate Change recently in Durban, South Africa has recognized the urgent need to improve the climate and weather services to help developing countries adapt to climate change, particularly the African countries.
Under the agreement between WMO and the Government of Norway, Norway will provide 10 million USD to WMO to enhance provision of climate information and weather to help African countries improve weather forecasting and development and dissemination of early warning systems, more ready than before the event the weather is not predictable, enhancing the development of climate services and climate at national, subregional and regional and ensure these services reach those who need it most, such as farmers or fishermen ...
WMO emphasizes strengthening Climate Services in Africa will contribute to reducing disaster risk increase food security and water management, particularly the modern technology of meteorology and Norway will provide key information in Africa correct and timely information about climate and weather, thus contributing to sustainable development a reality in Africa.
