Ha Nam Health Department has just held Interdisciplinary Workshop on Health and Education - Training on management of refractive disabled for students. This activity is in the project "Improving the quality of children eye care services in Ha Nam Province" sponsored by Orbis organization.
The project conducted the following activities: training on capacity building examination, detect common eye diseases of children and referral network for health care workers from commune to provincial-level capacity building and skills to detect diseases of the staffs, volunteers, citizens, families and children to maintain the sustainability of the program "For the eyes of Young Children"; deployed medical operations, screening, treatment of eye diseases normal children, and coordinate with Ha Nam Hospital eye examinations and eye surgery indicated for children, supporting communication and education to raise public awareness of care, eye protection, children's vision and mobilization of social support ...
Through preliminary investigation, in Ha Nam Province incidence of refractive disabled in urban areas is 14.5%, rural areas is 4.5% of which 65% students in rural and 45% students in the city are not be modified glass. In 2011, the project "Improving the quality of children eye care services in He Nam Province" has medical and vision screening for 20,000 students of primary and secondary school in Ly Nhan district, 04 communes of Thanh Liem district and 04 communes of Binh Luc district, which detected 1540 cases that have vision <7 / 10, accounting for 7.7%.
