Adopted the Manila Declaration of the marine environment protection

Global Land and Ocean Conference (GLOC) ended on 30/1 in the capital Manila in the Philippines has adopted the Manila Declaration on the protection of the marine environment.

Delegates of 65 counties attended the conference confirmed the central role of the marine environment and ocean, and pledged to strengthen efforts to protect the oceans before pollution caused by land-based activities cause .

GLOC Conference Programme United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Philippine government jointly held. The conference attracted the participation of environment ministers from the water, marine scientists, non-governmental organizations, the global financial institutions, discusses the basic content to shape the policies and new actions to strengthen the sustainable management of marine, ocean and coastal areas.


Manila Declaration adopted have reaffirmed their commitment to building global policies to control waste water, waste and other sources of marine pollution of seas and oceans from fertilizer sources, and called up promote action in the period 2012-2016 at all levels from local, national to global.

In addition, the Manila Declaration calling for the international community should enhance co-ordinated action to reduce the risk of vulnerable threaten coastal communities before the impacts of climate change, and solve effective risk of biodiversity loss, pollution, organic matter and ocean acidification caused by human activities cause land.

The statement stressed the seas and coastal areas healthy and pollution will have an important role to support human life and food security. /.
