Solid waste is one of hot issues in not only in Thanh Liem in general but also in 3 commune Thanh Ha, Thanh Tuyen, Liem Tuyen in particular. In order to handle waste  at these localities require a big budget for transportation but also depends deeply on the local people’s habit or awareness.

Understanding of the complexity and difficulty of waste collection and separation, CEDO cooperated with local authorities to organize several communication campaigns aiming at to maximize community’s participation in to project activities. There were 2 models of waste classification at source at two communes like Ngai Tri (Liem Tuyen) and Duong Xa (Thanh Ha) by clusters, each consists of 5-10 HHs that help the waste transportation  easier.
   
Besides waste separation training like organic, solid and reuse waste classification, CEDO also support waste bins for committed HHs. CEDO provided information on waste treatment to each type. For organic waste people can use for composting, solid waste can be transferred into waste dump. Reuse waste can be collected and sold..

For better mobilizing local people in waste classification, the most important thing for local people to understand that “waste is natural resource or money”. At present the waste classification by clusters are accepted by local people in 3 commune and come into effect. This can help to reduce environment pollution
